Art is not just something we make or something we can have.
Art is how we live our lives. Art is life.
Walking in the wind and the fog, smelling the leaves in the fall, the garden in the spring, and seeing a saturation of colour in the world where and when it is least expected; these are some of the things I love. All influence my view of the world and how I paint it.
Sometimes I make the shapes a little more fluid and the colour a little more intense, perhaps as a response to the realization that regardless of the origin of that very light and colour – sunrise, sunset or somewhere inbetween – all too soon it will be gone.
My art explores the relationship between shade and shadow, colour and light, the seen and the unseen. I hope that the viewer looks at my work and is not only drawn in but also wonders what is just out of the line of vision, just out of sight. I hope that the viewer might see a little of the world as I see it.
